Guangdong Provincial Television and CBS Exchange Information and Insights
New York Two veteran executives of Guangdong Provincial Television Station (GDTV), a provincial government-owned company, recently spent a day visiting with CBS executives, sharing in an effort to expand the relationship between Chinese and American media. The two GDTV executives, Producer Qi Li and Director Xie Yong, were on a two-week business exchange mission facilitated by Appliedinfo Partners and the Chinese American Media Association, GDTV's American partner.
Upon receiving CBS Broadcasting Inc.'s warm reception at their corporate headquarters in New York City, Qi and Xie had the opportunity to engage in the exchange of television production, technology, news and cultural insights with their CBS counterparts. "In operation and resource management, we learned the right way to do things by seeing CBS in action. Our visit with them was the most valuable," commented Producer Qi.
Appliedinfo, who created the Diversity Spend Management software market with their product DivTRAK®, has been striving to become a more versatile global company in technology and communications by embracing a wider range of products and services, including media production and communications design. CBS, with whom Appliedinfo has built a long-standing relationship, becomes a natural partner in these efforts.
According to John Lau, exchanges of this nature are in line with the company's strategy of creating a diverse business base by combining complementary areas of expertise. "In this marketplace, it is not enough to do well in just one thing. We did very well with DivTRAK®, and are very proud of it. But we cannot be complacent. The 21st century will be about the marriage between media and technology. Our goal is to become one of the best in that marketplace. Building on our deep and strong experience in hardware, software and database technology, we are confident that we will succeed in this new venture nationally and internationally," said John T. Lau, Appliedinfo president.
"China is a an emerging superpower, and I feel a connection to it." Lau continued. "Although I grew up in the United States, I was born in China and am very proud of my cultural heritage."
