Appliedinfo Assists China's Educational Television Network In Documentary Series About Chinese Emigrants in the U.S.

SOMERSET, NJ – Appliedinfo Partners, Inc. (AIP) is playing a key role in a Shandong Educational Television (SETV) production of the first-ever documentary on the lives of Chinese people in the United States. The 100-episode documentary illustrates the triumphs, cultural struggles and educational experiences of one hundred Chinese immigrants, many of whom are celebrated figures in the fields of medicine, politics, business and philanthropy. AIP's role is to identify Chinese-Americans, from distinguished leaders to ordinary citizens, and to coordinate the production of their video profiles.

The program began airing on the SETV channel on January 1, 2006, every Saturday and Sunday prime-time evening, and is simultaneously broadcast to other regional educational TV networks around China via satellite.  A popular success, the program generates viewership of more than 100 million households from all over China.

Many of the most avid viewers are part of a new generation of "Westernized" Chinese parents who place great value on Western higher education for their children. Restricted by China's unusual "One Child Policy," these young parents treat their only children as "Little Emperors," and increasingly define their success in Western terms.

Peter Liu of AIP, the U.S.-based Producer for the program, asserts that it has set high standards for future cross-cultural, cross-continent programming. "Our team worked 110%," he says. "We paid close attention to every detail throughout the process, from development to production to delivery." Liu added, "We believe this program will pave the way for more dialogue on topics such as American learning, pop culture, business, economics and everyday life.

John Lau, President of AIP, is among the Chinese-Americans spotlighted in the program. His story is particularly interesting because AIP has launched operations in Shanghai and Jinan, China. Reflecting on the stature of the other interviewees, Lau states, "Just imagine the many great minds one can encounter doing a program like this…I wish I were the interviewer, not the interviewee."
